Who We Are
Germaine Choe, Founder and Series Creator
In 2012, Germaine started Chinese Together, an after school Chinese program for children ages 3 to 8. The pedagogical findings from this language lab resulted in the award-winning method featured in our books today. Germaine began her publishing career in 1997 at Living Language, the foreign language division of Penguin Random House. She was Director of Marketing for Lightbulb Press, publisher of the Wall Street Journal financial guides. She also managed international distribution for Harvard Business Publishing (publisher of the Harvard Business Review). Germaine has a BA in History, Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia University.
She grew up and attended school in Hong Kong and Canada, where she studied Cantonese, Mandarin and French, and experienced first-hand the challenges of learning new languages. Germaine now lives in Boston with her husband and two children, working on her mission to make languages fun and achievable for kids.
"I enjoy making a child’s early language experiences rewarding. It's a magical moment—when they finish their first little book and achieve something that might have felt impossible."
